Children's Book Readings: Lodi, CA

This week I was invited to read “What Are Mommies Made Of?” and “What If My Nana Was a Banana?” at Julia Morgan Elementary School in Lodi, CA. I had such a great time meeting students and reading to them. They had many great questions and comments to share about their art, writing, and love for their mommies! My favorite thing was hearing how much the students want to be writers and illustrators.

I read “Mommies” to two kindergarten classes and “Nana Banana” to two first grade classes. I also popped in to talk about writing and publishing with Mrs. Thomas’ fifth grade class. All of the students enjoyed the books and promised to write down their own stories! It was very inspiring!

The next day I was invited to read “What Are Mommies Made Of?” at Ginger Bugs, a local indoor play place and event space for families. Owner, Kelli, was welcoming and helpful, and it was fun to read to younger kids and their grown-ups. I really enjoyed meeting Kelli and seeing her beautiful play space for kids and their families.

I spoke with several moms who love Ginger Bugs because it’s their community where they can meet other moms and have playmates for their young kids. My girls and I felt immediately at home at Ginger Bugs and we feel so lucky to have spent our morning there.

If you’re ever in Downtown Lodi, please stop by this wonderful space with your young kiddos!
